Zamfara distributes 130 cars, 1,920 motorcycles to residents

Zamfara state government distributed 130 cars and 1,920 motorcycles to residents of Maradun local government area from 2011 till date, Gov. Abdul’aziz Yari, has said.

The governor, who made the disclosure at a campaign rally held in Maradun Emirate, said his administration had embarked on several programmes to alleviate poverty in the emirate.

He said that over 400 people from the emirate benefited annually from the state Zakat Endowment fund, while 140 youths were empowered under the state’s skills acquisition programme.

He said the government had executed projects worth about N1.2 billion in rural electrification and water supply in the emirate.

He said the government spent N75 million annually in feeding students in 13 secondary schools in the emirate.

He added that government also spent N420 million in providing facilities in schools across the emirate as part of its efforts to improve student enrolment.

Yari said that 157 trailers load of fertilizers were distributed to farmers in the emirate at subsidised rate of N1,000 per bag to boost agricultural activities.

He said that government offered N70 million cash assistance to the victims of disaster in Maradun local government area to ameliorate their suffering.

Earlier, the Emir of Maradun, Alhaji Muhammadu Tambari commended the governor for executing various projects in the area.

He said that the projects had enhanced the socio-economic development of the area.

Tambari called on politicians to execute projects that would have direct impact on the lives of the people.
