14 suspected drug peddlers in ‘soup’

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, in Jigawa on Sunday in Dutse said it had arrested 14 suspects for allegedly peddling drugs.

The state Commandant of NSCDC, Mr Muhammad Gidado, told the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, that the suspects were arrested in Dutse Local Government Area.

Gidado said that the suspects were arrested at different locations during a raid carried out by men of the command.

He explained that the some of the suspects were nabbed at Sabuwar-Maranjuwa, ‘Yantifa and Fagiji quarters, while others were arrested at Kudai, in the outskirts of Dutse.

According to him, a large consignment of illicit drugs was recovered from the suspects.
The Commandant listed the drugs to include 37 packets of Diazepam tablet (10mg), 21 bottles of Exol syrup and 40 packets of Exol tablet (100mg).

He said others were 18 pieces of Red Sun energy drink, 24 sachets of Tramal tablet (200g) 120 bottles of Codeine syrup and 100 sachets of Rubber Solution.

Gidado said that the suspects would be handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, for further action.

He reiterated the command’s resolve to make Jigawa, a drug-free state and advised youths in the state, to shun drug abuse and other vices.
