Dutch midfielder Daley Blind scored two minutes into stoppage time to help Manchester United snatch a 1-1 draw in a Premier League match at West Ham United on Sunday.

Cheikhou Kouyate had put the Hammers ahead four minutes into the second half with a well executed half-volley which seemed just enough to earn West Ham the win until Blind struck in the 92nd minute.

Man. United had got the first sight of goal seven minutes in when Robin van Persie intercepted a poor pass from Alex Song, only to stab his effort just wide.

From then on however, West Ham dominated proceedings, with Enner Valencia twice denied in as many minutes by David De Gea after a quarter of an hour.

James Tompkins went even closer to breaking the deadlock for West Ham just after the half-hour as he saw his downward header kept out by De Gea with his feet as Man. United held on to keep scores goalless going into the break.

The Hammers’ dominance eventually paid off four minutes into the second period when the Man. United defence failed to deal with a setpiece and allowed Kouyate the time to juggle the ball three times in the area before smashing home a half-volley with help of a slight deflection off Blind.

The goal sprung Man. United to life as van Persie saw a stinging volley saved by Adrian while Falcao steered an effort wide when he was put through on goal.

Man. United’s persistence however paid off deep in stoppage time when an attempted headed clearance by Carl Jenkinson fell kindly for Blind who fired in first-time to earn a share of the spoils for the Red Devils, who had Luke Shaw sent off moments later for a second bookable offence.

The result at Boleyn Ground sees Manchester United drop to fourth on the league standings with 44 points, a point behind third placed Southampton that had beaten QPR by a late Sadio Mane goal on Saturday.

Elsewhere in the Premier League on Sunday, Peter Crouch’s late goal earned Stoke City a 1-1 draw at Newcastle United while Nigerian striker Brown Ideye scored to help West Brom complete a comeback from two goals down and secure a 2-2 draw at Burnley.
