Osoba declared that the cards are the weapons of war to be used to fight against bad government in the State.
He stated this on Wednesday during the flag off of the party at the Ake Palace ground, Abeokuta,the State capital.
Osoba who also disclosed that the SDP had over 50,000 members on its membership register in the State,directed each member to canvass for at least 10 additional members.
The Social Democratic Party (SDP) on Wednesday announced plans to pull not less than 500,000 votes in Ogun during the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state.
Osoba who directed all members at the rally to display their permanent voter cards, warned them against loss or sale, saying,”they are the weapons of war.
“You all know that the crowd here is not rented and presently on our membership register in this state, we have not less than 50,000 registered members.
We are targetting not less than 500,000 votes in this state.
“If each of the 50,000 members can win 10 members, then that target will be achieved.
I hereby make all of you to be canvassers of votes, particularly outside your neighbourhood, so as to make our dream a reality,” the former Ogun governor said.
Highlight of the event was the official announcement and handing over of the party’s flag to the governorship candidate in the State.
An incumbent Senator representing Ogun West Senatorial District, Chief Akin Odunsi is the governorship candidate while the current deputy governor in the State,Prince Segun Adesegun is the running mate.
The remaining two Senators were given return tickets while Chief Biyi Otegbeye was picked to replace Odunsi.
In his acceptance speech,the governorship candidate promised to run all-inclusive administration,which will give equal opportunities to the people of the State,if voted into office.
The advertising guru pledged to re-order priorities as part of efforts to restore the core values for which the state was known for, including respect for elders and traditional institutions.
“We shall revamp our economy and educational institutions as well as provide disciplined leadership and offer inclusive and participatory governance,” Odunsi promised.
