Barely two months after defecting to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, with four of his colleagues, Joseph Adegbesan, the lawmaker representing Ijebu North Constituency in the Ogun State House of Assembly, has again moved over to the Labour Party, LP.
This time however, he defected to the Labour Party to clinch the party’s ticket for the House of Representatives to represent Ijebu North, East and Ogun Waterside Constituency in the general elections that would hold in February.
He made the announcement on Monday in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital in the western part of Nigeria.
Adegbesan explained that he left the PDP after consultations with his supporters, adding that the move to the new party would enable him achieve his political dream.
“I left the PDP after consulting with my people and they gave me the go ahead.
“I also want to let you know that more PDP lawmakers whose interests were not protected by the party will defect to other parties.
“As a politician, we need to do everything possible to bring the dividends of democracy to the door steps of our people.
“I want to advise the people to be law abiding and shun any form of violence” he said.
