Speaker of the Nigerian House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, has picked the Sokoto State Commissioner for Health, Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu, as his running mate ahead of the governorship election in the state in 2015.

Tambuwal is the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the election.

The acting Chairman of the party in the state, Alhaji Usman Danmadami-Isa, issued a statement confirming this on Wednesday in Sokoto.

According to Danmadami, the commissioner was picked after consultation with Tambuwal and other stakeholders of the party in the state.

While urging all members of the party to work assiduously to ensure total success in the 2015 general elections, the party also prayed for peace and harmony to reign in the state and country before, during and after the elections.
