Governor Isa Yuguda: makes a promise on burnt market

Governor Isa Yuguda of north eastern Nigerian state of Bauchi on Tuesday said the government would rebuild the market destroyed by Monday’s explosion in the capital city of Bauchi.

Yuguda made the promise in Bauchi during a visit to the Central Market, the scene of explosion and Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi, where victims of the explosion were receiving treatment.

He said the state government would re-construct the market and settle the medical bills of the victims.

The governor assured that the state government would continue to place security on its priority list.

He sympathized with the families of the deceased, saying, “this is alien to us but with faith in God, it will soon come to an end.”

The governor said the activities of the insurgents would not stop electioneering campaigns in the state, adding, “allowing such things to affect democratic process will amount to succumbing to acts of terrorism.

“Political activities will go on and we will ensure that adequate security measures are put in place to safeguard the lives of innocent citizens,” he stated. (NAN)
