The Emir of Gwandu in Kebbi, Alhaji Muhammadu Bashar, has appealed the state’s High Court judgment ordering the reinstatement of Almustapha Jokolo as emir.

Justice Abbas Ahman of the State High Court, on Thursday, ordered the reinstatement of Jokolo as the 19th Emir of Gwandu.

The lead counsel to the appellant, Yunus Ustaz (SAN), told NAN in Birnin Kebbi that Bashar had filed a notice of appeal No/kb/CAS/38/2014 for an order allowing the appeal and an order to set aside the judgment.

Ustaz said he had also sought an order to dismiss the claimants claim in its entirety.

Jokolo had in 2006 challenged his removal and deposition in a court of appropriate jurisdiction.

Jokolo also challenged the Kebbi State Government for failing to consult kingmakers or allow him a fair hearing before his removal as the 19th Emir of Gwandu in 2006.

He then urged the High Court to reinstate him as emir, stressing that the state government did not follow due process.
