A former speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly Terhemen Tarzoor has emerged the governorship flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)of the state, beating eight other aspirants that included the controversial former attorney general of Nigeria, Michael Kaase Aondoakaa.
The results of the elections was announced this morning. Tarzoor polled 517 votes.
He was followed by the state deputy governor Chief Steven Lawani who scored 311 votes out of the total of 974 votes.
Chief Returning Officer of PDP, Ambassador Sa’idu Adamu Daura declared Tarzor winner of the election.
Ten out of the 18 aspirants had stepped down earlier before the commencement of the exercise at 1:15pm.
They are; Engr. Felix Atume, Dr. Eugene Aliegba, Prof. David Ker, Barr. Alex Adum, Chief Andy Uwkwou, Comrade Simon Anchaver, Engr. David Nongo, Chief Hingah Biam Dr. Terlumun Nyitse and Barr. James Mbachatim.
Those who contested included; Former Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Michael Kaase Aondoakaa, Dr.Terhemba Shija, Mrs. Ada Chenge, Dr. Sam Ode, deputy governor, Chief Steven Lawani, Dr. Mathias Oyiegaya, Former minister, Dr. Samuel Ortom and former speaker of the state assembly, Tarzoor Terhemen.
