Scores of youths from Alimosho Local Government on Tuesday protested at the Ikeja state secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) against the senatorial ambition of a House of Representatives member, Solomon Olamilekan Adeola.
Popularly called Yayi, Adeola who is representing Alimosho Federal Constituency in the National Assembly is aspiring to represent Lagos West Senatorial District in the next political dispensation.
But the youths under the aegis of Alimosho Youths for Good Governance said they are rejecting Adeola owing to the fact that he had earlier signified interest in contesting in Ogun West Senatorial district but rushed to pick the ticket for Lagos West when he was rejected.
Spokesperson of the group, Luqman Balogun- Johnson said Adeola’s action is a slap on the good people of Lagos as the state should not be a second choice for any politician of repute.
“We have nothing against the person of Solomon Adeola. Our grouse against him is that he had earlier signified his interest to contest in Ogun West Senatorial District. He has put up a strong structure in Ogun state We have series of posters here to back our claim. Also if you go to facebook today, you will see Yayi for Senate Ogun West”.
“But because he lost out in the power play in Ogun state, he now came to Lagos West seeking to realise his failed ambition. Our question is ‘ Has Lagos State become so cheap for any serious- minded politician to make it a second choice? He had a choice to choose between Lagos West and Ogun West but he opted for Ogun. Why coming to Lagos now when that the people of Ogun have rejected you?”.
“We are urging the leadership of APC in Lagos to consider this when the primary of the party comes up. Lagos state is dear to us and we will not allow anyone take it for granted”.
Efforts made to reach Adeola proved abortive as phone calls made to his lines and text messages sent were not responded to
