Worried by the ceaseless bombings and killings in the North-East region and other parts of the country , members of the Women’s wing of Christian Association of Nigeria , WOWICAN today converged in Kaduna to pray for permanent peace and ceasefire from Boko Haram insurgents.
Speaking at a press conference held at Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Secretariat , the National Chairperson , Pastor Mrs Mabel Oyin Sowoolu said the killings and bombings are enough and they can no longer wait but seek God’s help.
According to her, since the federal and the security agencies seem to be finding it difficult to fight the Boko Haram insurgents , the CAN women across the 36 states of the federration therefore resolved to seek the face of God for intervention.
“Since it appeared that our security agencies have been overpowered by the dreaded Boko Haram insurgents , we call on all Nigerians whether Christians or Muslims to join hands with us and pray for peace to reign”, Pastor Sowoolu said.
While condemning the frequent attacks on schools and religious places of worship, she called on federal government also seek God’s intervention as well intensify effort to contain the militant sect members.
However, she noted that prayers is good , but all handers must be deck to “Pray and Work” for effective result.
