Turkish club Galatasaray look set to be in trouble with UEFA again after being charged by the European football governing body over crowd disturbances during their 4-1 Champions League defeat at Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday.

Fans of the Turkish club had forced the match to be suspended two times, due to firecrackers and smoke bombs thrown onto the Signal Iduna pitch from their section of the stadium.

This comes only a month after Galatasaray was fined €50,000 by UEFA for similar crowd trouble during another 4-1 loss at Arsenal, with the club also forced to pay Arsenal for damages.

The Turkish club’s fans are also being investigated for attempted manslaughter by German police over the incident in Dortmund.

A statement by the Police read, “Among other investigations were those launched into attempted manslaughter, disturbing the peace, breaking laws regulating explosives and laws on assembly.”

UEFA will decide on the case on November 13, with a decision against Galatasaray likely leading to the club’s fans being barred from their final away game in the Champions League at Anderlecht on 26 November.
