Nigeria’s National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at the Lagos Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) on Thursday said it had arrested three suspects and seized 14.6kg of cocaine.
The hard drug of high quality, was flown in from Brazil. It was hidden in footwears and laptop bags.
“Three suspected drug traffickers have been apprehended for smuggling the drugs from Brazil through Abu Dhabi. The estimated street value of the seized cocaine is about N131 million,” a statement by the NDLEA said.
“A suspect was found with 11.3kg of cocaine, Agu had in his possession 1.65kg, while Okoye was found with 1.670kg.’’
The statement added that the suspects were apprehended during an inward screening of passengers on an Emirate flight from Dubai.
It restated the commitment of the agency to the drug war, saying “it is a continuous exercise until the country is completely free of illicit drugs.’’
