Minister of Sports Tammy Danagogo has asked conflicting parties on the Nigeria Football Federation leadership to find a quick resolution to their differences in the interest of peace.

Danagogo made this plea during a meeting on Tuesday which had NFF President Amaju Pinnick and Chris Giwa in attendance, along with NFF General Secretary Musa Amadu and National Sports Commission directors Bolaji Ojo-Oba and Abdulkadir Muazu among others.

The minister particularly asked that the court case brought against the FIFA-recognised NFF leadership by Giwa be withdrawn immediately, in order to avoid sanctions from world football’s governing body.

According to Danagogo, the feud between the Giwa-led faction and the Pinnick-led NFF almost cost the Nigerian women’s national team the title, as FIFA was prepared to order CAF to prevent the Super Falcons from playing Saturday’s final against Cameroun.

Danagogo stated ”Hayatou told me Nigeria could actually have been stopped from playing the final of the African Women Championship in Namibia on Saturday, but he had to plead with FIFA to stop its Emergency Committee from taking immediate action.”

He added, “I can assure you all that the Federal Government will not take kindly to any individual or group that contribute to an unfortunate situation of Nigeria getting banned from international football.”
