Felabration also showcases diverse creative activities such as secondary schools debate for students in Lagos State, dance troupes, photo exhibitions, street carnival parade with musical floats and book readings.

TheNEWS learnt that the main challenge the organising committee of the festival faced this year was sponsorship. Yeni Kuti, daughter of the late musician and founder of Felabration, affirmed this. “We have very limited fund to run the festival this year. We have only a few sponsors and even those ones didn’t give us money as they did last year. A lot of sponsors don’t want to identify with Fela, like the telecommunication companies; they believe that Fela is not who they want to identify with, even in death,” Yeni said.
The dearth of major corporate sponsors notwithstanding, this year’s festival has been adjudged as one of the best.
