FC Barcelona forward Neymar scored all the goals as Brazil thrashed Japan 4-0 in a friendly encounter today in Singapore while Lionel Messi and Gonzalo Higuaín each scored twice in Argentina’s 7-0 win at Hong Kong in another friendly match.

The Brazil captain put in a stellar one-man show against the Blue Samurai, starting off with the opener in the 18th minute when he ran on to Diego Tardelli’s through ball and rounded goalkeeper Eiji Kawashima to score.

Japan finished the first half strong but were unable to find a goal back, allowing Brazil to put some daylight in the scores when Neymar beat the offside trap to double Selecão’s lead three minutes into the second half.

Japan came close to pulling a goal back minutes later but Shinji Okazaki saw his fierce effort come off the post while Neymar could only find the sidenetting while his cross to substitute Kaka was pushed onto the bar in the 77th minute.

The home side’s defence failed to clear their lines from Kaka’s chance and Neymar was able to get his hattrick as a result, turning in a rebound of substitute Philippe Coutinho’s shot which Kawashima had managed to keep out.

Neymar wrapped up a good game four minutes later when he scored off a Kaka cross, taking his tally with Brazil to 40 in 58 appearances and extending Dunga’s winning start since becoming Brazil coach to four matches.

In Hong Kong, Ever Banega put Argentina ahead after 19 minutes with a drilled effort while further goals just before half-time from Higuaín with a header and Nicolas Gaitan put the Albiceleste 3-0 up by the break.

Higuaín got his second 10 minutes intomthe second half to make it 4-0 for Argentina while Messi came off the bench to score twice either side of Gaitan’s second of the game to wrap up a comprehensive result for Gerardo Martino’s men.

In other friendly matches today, Paraguay fell to a 2-1 loss at China while Costa Rica beat South Korea 3-1 in Seoul.
