Injury Sidelines Victor Moses from Super Eagles

Stoke City forward Victor Moses will be unavailable for Nigeria in the 2015 Nations Cup qualifying double-header against Sudan due to the recurrence of a thigh injury early in a Premier League match last weekend.

The 23-year old, on-loan at the Britannia from Chelsea, had to go off in the 18th minute of Stoke’s 3-1 loss at Sunderland due to the injury, with manager Mark Hughes stating afterwards that more tests would be carried out on the forward during the international break.

As a result of Moses’ enforced absence, caretaker coach of the Super Eagles Stephen Keshi has called up Emem Eduok of Nigeria Premier League side Dolphins as replacement.

The Super Eagles, who have not registered a win and lie in third place in their qualifying group behind Congo and South Africa, first face Sudan on October 11 in Khartoum before hosting the north Africans four days later in Abuja.
