Phil Jagielka scored a stoppage time equaliser for Everton to earn a dramatic point in a 1-1 draw at Liverpool in today’s early kick-off of the Premier League.
Following a goalless first half at Anfield, Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard had given the Reds a 65th minute lead with a well struck curling freekick and it seemed his goal would be enough to earn the win.
But Jagielka stole the win from Liverpool’s grasp, with the centre-back firing home a 30-yard effort a minute into added time after Dejan Lovren had headed out a cross from Aiden McGeady.
The result however leaves both sides in the second half of the league table ahead of the rest of Saturday’s Premier League programme, with Liverpool in 12th spot with seven points while Everton lie a point and place behind their city rivals.
