Bayern Munich attacker Franck Ribery has been ruled out of the German champions’ opening UEFA Champions League clash with Manchester City tonight due to a knee injury.
Bayern manager Pep Guardiola confirmed the French midfielder’s injury was picked up during a training session on Monday, adding that Arjen Robben could be available for the match against City after recovering from a knee injury.
Ribery’s injury is a relapse, having featured in the win over Stuttgart in a Bundesliga match last weekend, coming on in the second half for his first competitive appearance this season and scoring a goal.
The 31-year old had missed the last FIFA World Cup in Brazil due to back injury, before suffering a knee injury during preseason with Bayern.
