Lille LOSC have a hard task of reaching the group stage of the UEFA Champions League this season after falling to a lone goal defeat to FC Porto in a first leg match of the final qualifying playoff.

Vincent Enyeama’s club failed to make home advantage count as Mexican midfielder Hector Herrera secured a vital away win for the visiting 2004 champions with a 61st minute goal.

The match also witnessed 17-year old Rùben Neves beat Cristiano Ronaldo to become the youngest Portuguese footballer to play in a Champions League match.

Elsewhere in the playoffs, reinstated Scottish champions Celtic earned a 1-1 draw at Slovenian champions Maribor while BATE Borisov came away from Slavan Bratislava with the same result as Celtic’s.

The return matches will be played next Tuesday.
