Barely a year after the Police Command in Ogun State arrested the notorious western Nigeria  robbery czar, Abiodun Ogunjobi, a.k.a Abbey
Godogodo, another powerful member of the syndicate, alongside two other members, has been arrested.

The suspect, identified as Akinde Olawale,a.k.a Oloye was arrested Sunday alongside  two members of the syndicate while they were
preparing to attack a church in Ewekoro township in Ewekoro local government area of Ogun State.

Other members of the gang arrested with him are: Azeez Ogunsola and Akingbade  Kaleyemi.

Olawale, a 27-year-old leader of the gang was, according to information known as ‘Oloye’ when he was second in Command to his
erstwhile boss, Godogodo, but, changed his operational name to ‘Wewe’ immediately Godogodo was arrested.

Parading the three suspects to newsmen in Abeokuta, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Ikemefuna  Okoye disclosed that the
gang has been involved in robbing prominent Nigerians, including the former President of Christian Association of Nigeria,CAN, Bishop Jasper Akinola, the football legend, Chief Olusegun Odegbami, among others. The gangsters abducted Primate Akinola and snatched his Prado Jeep last year December.

The Police boss revealed that Olawale has confessed that he belonged to the gang of Godogodo before he was arrested.

He further stated that ‘Wewe’, as he is fondly called now,confirmed that he has formed his own gang after the arrest of Godogodo,which
specialised in snatching exotic cars from prominent Nigerians.

“They snatched many vehicles and operated between Abeokuta and Ota along the express. The syndicate bought AK 47 riffles from a woman in
Sagamu at the  rate of  N200,000 per one and some pistols. We recovered four AK47, seven pistols,other guns and assorted  charms”,
Okoye stated.

The suspect told newsmen in an interview that he was among the  lieutenants of Godogodo, who  specialized in the snatching  of exotic
vehicles.

Olawale who has two wives and three children said he was known to unsuspecting members of the public as a commercial driver plying
Agbara – Sango route.
