Governor Rauf Aregbesola of the All Progressives Congress has been re-elected for a second term in Nigeria’s State of Osun.
According to the official result announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission this morning, in Osogbo, the state capital, Aregbesola polled 394,684 votes to defeat Senator Iyiola Omisore, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, who scored 292,747 votes. The votes scored by the other candidates were inconsequential.
Aregbesola led Omisore in 22 local councils, while Omisore won in eight.
