European champions Real Madrid have announced it will be signing Costa Rica goalkeeper Keylor Navas on a six-year deal from Levante, pending a medical.

Navas had a reported £7.9m release clause which Real Madrid appear to have now met, with the club stating the goalkeeper will be officially presented at the Santiago Bernabéu on Tuesday after his medicals.

The goalkeeper was one of the Central American nation’s top performers at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil were Costa Rica reached the quarter-final stage for the first time ever before losing out to the Netherlands on penalties.

The 27-year old will be Real Madrid’s third signing so far this summer following the £24m arrival of German midfielder Toni Kroos from Bayern Munich and James Rodriguez’s signing from AS Monaco for £71m.

Navas is expected to compete with Spain goalkeeper Iker Casillas for the number one spot at Real, with his arrival putting erstwhile first choice keeper Diego Lopez’s future at Real in further doubt.
