Owerri –  National Chairman, United Progressive Party (UPP) Chekwas Okorie, Tuesday exonerated President Goodluck Jonathan of blame in the current wave of insecurity Nigeria. ChekwasOkorie

“President Goodluck Jonathan is not behind the insecurity in Nigeria but those who want the position of presidency by all means,”he said.

Okorie made this known when he addressed members of Imo UPP State Working Committee in Owerri during his working visit to the state.

He said those who were wishing to become the president of the country at all cost should be blamed for the insecurity.

He said the country would certainly overcome the problem of insurgency. According to him, UPP is a veritable platform for the Igbo people to actualise their presidential dream.

He said the party would come up with a clearer stand on the matter of 2015 presidency in due course.

The UPP, he said, was prepared to spring surprises in the forthcoming general elections, adding that the party had a progressive agenda to accommodate the interest of not only Igbo people but other Nigerians.

Okorie said the only progressive party in Nigeria today was the UPP, the reactionary parties would fail, while the progressive party would be victorious.

Earlier, the state Chairman of UPP, Chief John Egbuchulem, said in spite of being a new party, UPP had members drawn from all the 27 local government areas in Imo.

Dr Osmold Ukanacho, a UPP stakeholder, said the Imo chapter of the party was perfecting plans win the 2015 governorship as well as occupy other political positions.
