Brazil’s football federation (CBF) have confirmed 1994 World Cup-winnng captain Dunga as new coach of the national team, in what will be a second spell in charge of Seleçåo for him.

Following his appointment, Dunga stated ”I am immensely happy – thank you for your confidence in me.” adding that, ”I am not here to sell a dream, we must get down to work.”

Dunga’s coaching career began with Brazil between 2006 and 2010, winning the Copa America in 2007 and the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup before being sacked after losing to the Netherlands in the quarter-final of the 2010 World Cup.

The 50-year old suceeds Luiz Felipe Scolari after an underwhelming World Cup campaign that saw Brazil fail to win the mundial on home soil again and only finish fourth following defeats to Germany and Netherlands.

Dunga’s first games in charge of Brazil will be friendly matches against Colombia and Ecuador.
