Neymar, James Rodriguez Nominated for Golden Ball Award

Colombia’s star performer at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, James Rodriguez and Brazil star Neymar are among 10 players nominated for the Golden Ball award for best player at the World Cup in a list dominated by finalists Germany and Argentina.

Rodriguez, who is on course to also win the Golden Shoe award courtesy of six goals in five matches, is in contention for the Golden Ball award alongside Germany’s Thomas Müller, Argentine duo Lionel Messi and Angel di Maria as well as injured Brazil talisman Neymar.

Neymar on his part had scored four goals in five matches before having his campaign ended with a broken veetebra sustained from a Juan Zuniga challenge during a quarter-final match against Colombia.
