Italian side AS Roma have this evening confirmed the signing of veteran English left-back Ashley Cole on a two-year deal, with the option of a further year.
Cole signed for the Serie A club after becoming a free agent at the end of the 2013/14 season as Premier League club Chelsea opted to not offer the 33 year old a new deal.
The full-back later tweeted his happiness at signing for Roma, ”Happy to have signed my contract at [Roma], just want to [thank] everyone for [your] lovely messages.”
The former Arsenal and Chelsea defender makes a foray to the Serie A following 15 years in the Premier League where he won three league titles, a record seven FA Cup titles as well as one UEFA Champions League title and one Europa League title.
