Stephen Keshi has left the door open to stay on as Super Eagles coach if given the opportunity to do so with a new contract from the Nigeria Football Federation.
Keshi’s contract ended following Nigeria’s second round exit from the FIFA World Cup in Brazil but the 52 year old expressed his desire to continue at the helm of the Super Eagles.
According to him, ”Although I have not spoken with the NFF yet, I am out of contract now and I need to move ahead. If I meet with the NFF and we agree to the conditions in a new contract, there is no problem.”
He stated further that ”There are many countries like South Africa that are seeking my service; but I will give priority to Nigeria if we agree because I will love to finish what I started if everything goes on well.”
Keshi also expressed great optimism for the Super Eagles, stating the current set of players have potential to make Nigerians proud in the next three or four years if they are kept together and joined by a few others.
Keshi was appointed in 2011 after spells with the national teams of Mali and Togo, winning the Cup of Africa Nations for Nigeria in 2013 and finishing third in the Africa Nations Championship earlier this year.
