Agent of Spanish goalkeeper Victor Valdes, Gines Carvajal has insisted French Ligue 1 club AS Monaco must honour the agreement it has with the goalkeeper following reports Valdes would no longer be signed by the club.

Valdes became a free agent at the end of last season after opting not to renew his contract at Baarcelona and was expected to sign for big-spending Monaco that finished second in Ligue 1 last season.

However, Valdes was unable to pass a medical with the club as he is still recovering from a torn cruciate ligament injury sustained during a La Liga match against Celta Vigo, prompting the principality club to state it would not be taking up the option of signing Valdes.

Carvajal is however quoted in Spanish media as stating that ”We have signed a four-year contract with Monaco and we will enforce it.”

Valdes was long-time first choice goalkeeper at Barcelona, winning six league titles and three UEFA champions League titles among other titles during his 12-year stay with the Catalan giants.
