Cairo – A police colonel has been killed in the bombing that took place today Monday, near the Egypt presidential palace in east Cairo, police officials said.
The blast came days after a militant Islamist group warned it had planted bombs near the Ittihadiya palace in east Cairo, and claimed it did not set them off to avoid civilian casualties.
Three street cleaners were also wounded a result of the explosion, police source said.
