Late Arisekola, billionaire, businessman and Ibadan politician

Ibadan- An Islamic cleric from Kwara, Sheik Muideen Bello, on Friday charged wealthy indigenes of Ibadan to emulate the philanthropic nature of the late Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Alhaji Abdul-Azeez Arisekola-Alao.

Bello gave the advice at the Ibadan home of the late Deputy President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs where the eighth-day Fidau prayer was held.

The cleric showered encomiums on Arisekola, and called on Ibadan residents to try to love one another and sustain the legacy the Aare left.

“I have not seen anyone as good as late Arisekola-Alao among people in Ibadan. Try to love one another and sustain the legacy that he left.

“I pray we have another person like him soon. We are praying for Aare Arisekola in his absence now. Will people do same for you when you are no more?”

He prayed for the repose of his soul and God’s protection for the family he left behind.

Bello also urged those who “usually hide under the magnanimity of the late Arisekola to forment trouble and get bailed out’’ to desist from the act.

Speaking on behalf of the Arisekola family, one of the children, Isa Hastrup, thanked all for the solidarity and support given since the business mogul died on June 18.

The FCT Minister of State, Mrs Jumoke Akinjide, Chief Kunle Ojora and Erelu Ojora, as well as a former Minister of Finance, Mr Remi Babalola, were among dignitaries at the ceremony.

Also at the ceremony were a former Minister of Special Duties, Wole Oyelese, and a former Deputy Governor in the state, Alhaji Hazim Gbolarumi.

Others were the President, National Union of Road Transport Workers, Alhaji Najeem Yasin, and his Oyo State Chairman, Alhaji Taofeek Oyerinde.
