Lagos – Two renowned Nollywood thespians, Ejike Asiegbu and Victor Osuagwu on Thursday joined other fans to congratulate the Super Eagles as they qualified for the round of 16 at the ongoing World Cup in Brazil.

The duo were spotted at the O’Jez Restaurant and Bar, located inside the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos as they came to lend their support to the Eagles.

They told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in separate interviews that the team had played well in spite of the defeat to Lionel Messi inspired Albiceleste of Argentina.

It would be recalled that the two teams had started the match at a furious pace, with the Argentines taking the lead in the third minute through Messi, while Ahmed Musa drew level for Nigeria in the fourth minute.

The South Americans eventually won the keenly contested match 3-2, to qualify for the round of 16 as the Group F leaders with nine points, followed by Nigeria with four points.

Asiegbu, who was a former National President of the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria (AGN), told NAN that the Eagles had given a good account of themselves in the highly entertaining match.

“I believe the Super Eagles can go far at the World Cup; it’s just a matter of determination and self discipline,” he said.

In the same vein, Osuagwu said that he was very happy with the result the Eagles gave to Nigerians.

“We are happy this is happening and we cheer on the Super Eagles as we believe in their spirit, talent and abilities.

“We also call on our people to let the team and the head coach concentrate rather than insult them and their families,” he said. (NAN)
