Both Ikwechukwu, a driver, and his daughter, a student, reside at 12, Usman Adebanjo St., Power Line, Meiran in Abule-Egba.

They are facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, assault and stealing.

The prosecutor, Insp. Racheal Williams, told the court that the duo committed the offences on June 18 at their residence.

According to her, a fight ensued between the second accused, Onyiye and a neighbour, Mrs Pauline Onoja, over her misplaced umbrella.

“Later in the day, the father, who was not there when it happened, came with his daughter to the complainant’s room and beat her up.

“The woman was seriously wounded as a result of the beating.

“The accused and her daughter ransacked Onoja’s room and stole N50,000 from her bag,” Williams alleged.

She noted that the offences contravened Sections 171, 285 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.

The Magistrate, Mr Tajudeen Elias, granted each of the accused bail in the sum of N25, 000 and adjourned the case till July 9 for mention.
