Nigeria’s President Goodluck Jonathan has said he his saddened by the death of  renowned businessman and Islamic leader, Alhaji Abdul-Azeez Arisekola-Alao, who he noted, has left behind “a legacy of significant and commendable achievements.”

Arisekola-Alao, who was until his death on Wednesday, the Deputy President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA). He was 69 years old.

In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Dr Reuben Abati, Jonathan said that the deceased would be remembered for his remarkable entrepreneurial skills.

“On behalf of the Federal Government and the people of Nigeria, President Jonathan extends sincere condolence to the Arisekola-Alao family.

“The president also extends condolences to the people of Ibadan and Oyo State at large on the passing away of the famed Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland.

“As they mourn the famous entrepreneur, community and religious leader, Jonathan urges his family, relatives, friends, associates and dependants to be comforted by the fact that he lived a very fulfilled life.

President Jonathan said, Arisekola-Alao will always be remembered and honoured, especially for the remarkable entrepreneurial skills with which he establishes many successful businesses.

“He leaves behind a legacy of significant and commendable achievements,” the statement said.

He would also be remembered for creating jobs for numerous Nigerians as well as for his religious leadership and philanthropic gestures, the statement said.

The President prayed that God will receive Arisekola-Alao’s soul and grant him eternal rest.
