Onitsha – The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) on Monday assured its customers in Anambra of stable supply of electricity to watch the World Cup matches.

Its Communication Officer in Anambra, Osita Ugwuafo, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Onitsha that the company had put measures in place to maintain its installations.

“We have kicked-off a 24-hour maintenance of installations to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply in Anambra,” Ugwuafo said.

He noted that the company’s engineers had been placed on alert to attend to complaints and engage in immediate repairs whenever the case arose.

The spokesman said the company had taken stock of fittings and installations to meet the demands of any local breakdown from faulty network and installations.

“The EEDC is part and parcel of the success of the Super Eagles and Nigerians in this World Cup.

“And we have resolved to provide all-round maintenance service to back-up supply for Nigerians to watch the matches live and pray for the success of our national team.

“Our complaint and maintenance offices are open and we urge our numerous customers to promptly lay their complaints.

“We assure them that within minutes our team of engineers would storm their neighbourhood or home.

“We also appeal to our customers to be vigilant and watch electrical installations in their neighbourhood so that unscrupulous elements would not throw them into darkness and confusion,” he advised.

Hundred of consumers besieged the Onitsha unit office of the company, making last minute effort to re-charge their pre-paid meters ahead of the Super Eagles versus Iran match.
