Nigerian Turkish Nile University

Abuja – The Vice Chancellor, Nigerian Turkish Nile University (NTNU), Prof. Huseyin Sert, on Monday announced June 21 for the institution’s second convocation.

This is contained in a statement signed by Sert and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.

According to him, 184 students from seven departments will be graduating during the convocation.

It said that 11 students had first class degree and all of them would be awarded a 100 per cent scholarship into university’s masters and PHD programmes.

“Also the other graduates will be awarded with various amounts of scholarships; the event will take place at the convocation arena on NTNU campus.

“We started five years ago and we are progressing confidently to upgrade the standard and quality of our degree programmes.

“Our university started in 2009, and today, all our departments have been fully accredited by National Universities Commission; and arrangements are in the top gear to establish new departments as well as our post graduate school,’’ Sert said.

He said that arrangements had been concluded to start medicine and law faculties by September in order to meet the academic yearnings of Nigerians.

Sert said that the university was working in collaboration with 30 universities in Asia, Europe, America, and from Turkey to broaden the horizon of students and provide internationally acceptable standard of education to Nigerians.

He said that the convocation lectures would be delivered by the Minister of Power, Prof. Chinedu Nebo and Prof. Michael Faborode, the Secretary General, Committee of Vice Chancellors of Nigerian Universities.

“There will be award of first degrees, while Gov. Ibrahim Gaidam of Yobe State and the Director General State Security Services, Ita Ekpeyong will be conferred with honoury degrees,” Sert said.
