Emir of Kano: Emulate his bridge-building attributes – Obi of Onitsha

Onitsha – The Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Achebe, has urged  Nigerians to immortalise the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero, by advancing his ideals of bridge-building among various tribes, ideologies and belief.

“I received with great sadness the news of the translation of His Majesty, Alhaji Ado Bayero, CFR, Emir of Kano, to eternity.

“The greatest tribute we can pay to our beloved departed monarch would be to fiercely uphold and advance his ideals of bridge building through peace, love, fairness, and respect for one another,’’ Achebe said in a statement on Saturday.

The statement, made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Onitsha, Anambra, was signed by his Palace Secretary, Mr Nwolisa Agusiobo, on behalf of Igwe Achebe, who is currently outside the country.

“Alhaji Bayero is a great monarch, whose positive influence during his long reign transcended his domain to the entire country and beyond.

“I (Achebe) associated closely with, and held Alhaji Bayero in the highest esteem as an honest, wise, compassionate, and courageous leader of all times.

“Alhaji Bayero loved and gave his all to his people of Kano,” the statement said.

It consoled the family of the departed, the Kano Emirate, and the entire country,”particularly at these challenging times in our great and plural nation” and prayed that Allah may grant Bayero eternal rest.
