Brazil 2014: Uzoenyi Replaces Echiejile in Nigeria Squad

Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi has called up Ejike Uzoenyi to the Super Eagles squad at the expense of defender Elderson Echiejile who has failed to prove his fitness five days before the 2014 World Cup commences.

The decision to recall Uzoenyi was taken as Echiejile would need at least two weeks to recover from a muscle injury picked up in the first half of the friendly against Greece on Wednesday night.

Echiejile joins a long list of players withdrawn from the upcoming World Cup, with Marco Reus being ruled out for Germany and France losing Franck Ribery and Clement Grenier to injuries as well.
