Sharapova Reaches 3rd Straight French Open Final

Maria Sharapova this afternonn in Paris qualified for her third successive French Open final after coming from a set down to overcome Eugenie Bouchard of Canada 4-6, 7-5, 6-2.

The Russian fourth seed had lost the first set in the two matches preceding her semi-final, and Bouchard benefitted from that record as she took the first set in her first grand slam semi-final appearance.

But as in the two previous matches, Sharapova fought her way back into the match and won the second set on a tie-break before seeing out her Canadian opponent to reach Saturday’s final.

Sharapova will next face the winner of the second semi-final today between Simona Halep of Romania and Andrea Petkovic of Germany.
