Banned owner of basketball franchise LA Clippers, Donald Sterling has accepted the $2b deal negotiated by his wife for the sale of the team to former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer.
Donald Sterling had been banned for life by the NBA and fined 2.5m after a video in which he made racist comments in a verbal confrontation with his girlfriend was leaked on the internet.
Sterling had initially refused the sale of the basketball team for the record amount and taken the NBA to federal court for violation of antitrust laws in forcing a sale of the club, relying on information from an illegal recording and for fining him $2.5m which amounted to a breach of contract.
But with the lawsuit now dropped, Sterling’s attorney Maxwell Bletcher stated the deal to sell the club would now go through once the league has approved the deal.
