Cameroun played out an entertaining 2-2 draw with Germany while goals from Chelsea duo Romelu Lukaku and Eden Hazard gave Belgium victory over Sweden in some of the international friendlies played on Sunday night.
Germany were without Bayern Munich trio Manuel Neuer, Philipp Lahm and Bastian Schweinsteiger as well as Lazio striker Miroslav Klose when they faced Cameroun in Monchengladbach.
The Germans however had a strong starting line-up regardless and began the match brighter with Mario Götze, playing as the striker, coming close to scoring first only to be denied by the Cameroun woodwork as the first half ended goalless.
The goals however came just past the hour mark in a 16 minutes blitz, with Samuel Eto’o putting Cameroun ahead while goals from Thomas Müller and substitute Andre Schürrle saw Germany take the lead.
Eric-Maxime Choupo-Moting got an equaliser 12 minutes from time as Cameroun recovered from defeat against Paraguay last week to get a morale boosting result against Germany, who are one of the World Cup favourites.
Elsewhere, Sweden were without Zlatan Ibrahimovic who had a back complaint just before the friendly match against Belgium in Stockholm.
Lukaku put the Belgians ahead just past the half hour mark for his fourth goal in two matches. Sweden came close to an equaliser on the hour mark but were denied by the crossbar. Hazard then sealed the win for Belgium with a simple tap-in.
In other matches played, France were held to a 1-1 draw by Paraguay with Antoine Griezmann scoring his first international goal for France, the United States beat Turkey 2-1 and Honduras lost 4-2 at home to Israel.
