Women’s third seed Agnieszka Radwanska has been sent packing from the ongoing French Open grand slam in Paris following a straight sets loss to Ajla Tomljanovic in a third round match this morning.

A quarterfinalist at last year’s edition, Polish woman Radwanska came undone against Tomljanovic, losing 6-4, 6-4 to the Croatian youngster in the opening match of Day 6 at the ongoing French Open.

Prior to the match, Radwanska was the highest ranked player left in the women’s singles at Roland Garros following the shock exits of second seed Na Li in the first round and top seed Serena Williams in the second round.

Radwanska’s loss makes it the first time in the Open era in which the top three seeds have failed to make it into the second week of a grand slam, leaving fourth seed Maria Sharapova as the highest ranked player in the women’s draw.

In another third round match concluded from the morning session in Paris, women’s ninth seed Dominika Cibulkova lost 6-4, 6-4 to 19th seed Samantha Stosur of Australia.

Later today in the men’s draw, second seed Novak Djokovic will face Marin Cilic for a place in the fourth round while Roger Federer will come up against Dimitri Tursonov in another third round match.

Meanwhile in the women’s draw, Sharapova will hope to avoid the upset train in her third round match against Paula Ormaechea while conquerors of the Williams sisters, Gabriñe Muguruza and Anne Schmiedlova face each other as both aim to reach the fourth round of a grand slam for the first time.
