Lagos – A motorcyclist, Dayo Babatunde, 26, who stole a telephone was on Friday arraigned at an Abule Egba Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
Babatunde, who lives at 40, Ikola Ilumo Str., Ipaja, near Lagos, was alleged to have stolen the telephone belonging to one Mrs Olayinka Ogunjobi from her shop.
The prosecutor, Insp. Racheal Williams, told the court that the offence was committed on May 23 at Redeemed Street, Ipaja.
Williams said that the accused was apprehended by a passerby who saw him stealing the telephone, adding that he was subsequently handed over to the police.
She said that the value of the phone was N4,500 and that the offence contravened Sections 278 and 306 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Mr Tajudeen Elias, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
Elias adjourned the case until June 30.
