Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, Air Marshal Alex Badeh told a group of protesters on Monday that the Nigerian military now know where the over 200 girls abducted by members of Boko Haram insurgent group in Chibok, Borno State on April 14 are being kept.
He however said the military will not reveal the location for operational reasons.
“The good news for the girls is that we know where they are but we cannot tell you, we cannot come and tell you military secrets here,” Badeh who assured the protesters that the military will eventually rescue the girls told group, the Citizens Initiative for Security Awareness, led by its National Coordinator, Mr. Chidi Omeze, at a rally outside the Defence Headquarters, Abuja on Monday.
The CDS who affirmed that the military has the capacity to rescue the girls however said doing so with force may be dangerous as the students may be killed by their abductors.
The military chief added that trying to rescue the girls with force may result into their death and the military will not do so.
“We know what we are doing, we can’t go and kill our girls in the name of trying to get them back,” Badeh said.
