Gombe United played out a thrilling 3-3 draw at Enugu Rangers while champions Kano Pillars and league leaders Sharks of Port-Harcourt maintained their good form in some matchday 15 encounters played in the Nigeria Premier League today.

In Enugu, Osaguona Ighodaro scored a hattrick for Rangers but goals from Ibrahim Abubakar and a brace from Adamu Mohammed ensured Gombe United came away with a point from a pulsating encounter.

Two first half goals from Ighodaro put Rangers in control of the encounter and though Adamu Mohammed had missed a penalty for Gombe with half-time approaching, Ibrahim Abubakar eventually pulled one back for the visitors on the stroke of half-time.

Ighodaro restored Rangers’ two-goal lead however in the second half but Adamu Mohammed made amends for his earlier missed penalty by scoring twice to win a point for Gombe United.

Meanwhile in Warri, Tayo Fabiyi’s goal cancelled out Gbolahan Salami’s first half penalty to earn Sharks a 1-1 draw at Warri Wolves and extend the Port-Harcourt club’s unbeaten run to nine matches.

With the draw, Sharks remain top of the Nigeria Premier League with 27 points after 15 matches while Nasarawa United remain second despite falling to a lone goal defeat against Sunshine Stars in Akure.

Nasarawa however is now three points behind Sharks on the league table with 24 points, with five clubs two points behind the Lafia and another five clubs a further point behind in what is a congested league table.

Sunshine rose to fourth with 22 points as a result of beating Nasarawa while Enyimba is now third with 22 points after a 3-0 win at home to bottom club Nembe City, courtesy of goals from Abdulrahman Bashir and Mfon Udoh with a brace.

Adamu Hassan scored in each half as reigning Nigeria Premier League champions Kano Pillars got a 2-1 win over El-Kanemi Warrriors in Kaduna, moving up to eighth place with 21 points.

Pillars lead Dolphins, Abia Warriors and Giwa FC by goal difference only, with Dolphins winning 2-0 in Port-Harcourt against Bayelsa United, Abia Warriors winning 3-0 at home to Crown FC and Giwa FC thrashing Kaduna United 4-0 in Jos.

Other matches from matchday 15 of the Nigeria Premier League saw Akwa United rise to fifth place with 22 points after a 1-0 win over sixth placed Lobi Stars while FC Taraba rose to seventh place with 22 points as well thanks to a 1-0 win at home to Heartland.
