Akure – The Technical Director, Ondo State Football Agency (ODSFA), Mike Idoko, has hailed the fifth away draw by Sunshine Stars FC in the ongoing 2013/2014 season in the Globacom Premier League.

The Sunshine Stars played a 1-1 draw with Gombe. The Week 14 game was played on Thursday at the Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi.

Haruna Babalo had put Gombe ahead in the 17th minute before Tunde Adeniji equalised for Sunshine Stars in the 41st minute.

Idoko in an interview with NAN on Friday in Akure said Sunshine Stars said the management was satisfied with the result even though a victory could have been better.

“Our target was to win the game to cover for the home draw that we had against Sharks in Akure.

“We are now draw specialists in away matches which, he noted, can count in a achieving continental ticket”.

Sunshine Stars Coach Henry Abiodun also expressed satisfaction with his side’s draw against Gombe.

Abiodun said the team remained focused ahead of other fixtures, praising the match officials for a good job.

“Our objective is to build a team capable of dominating in Nigeria and Africa as a whole. I’m happy with the draw. It means a lot as a team.

“The officiating in the league has been so great, home and away. We thank God for Thursday’s match.

“I love the work rate of my boys and we will go back to prepare for next game – Sundays’s game against Nasarawa United.

“The players performed well and adhered strictly to the half time pep talks I gave to them,” he said.

The coach also thanked the ODSFA’s leadership under Akin Akinbobola for the support since taking over as the head coach.

Sunshine now has 19 points from 14 matches and will face Nasarawa United in the Week 15 match scheduled for the Akure Stadium.
