Ado-Ekiti – The wives of the two major Ekiti governorship candidates, Dr Kayode Fayemi of APC and Mr Ayo Fayose of the PDP, have begun combing villages and hamlets in search of votes for their spouses.
Barely 34 days to the election, Mrs Bisi Fayemi and Mrs Feyisetan Fayose had begun separate campaigns for their husbands in remote places.
The wives are campaigning to woo voters in the rural areas instead of restricting themselves to local government headquarters.
According to their itineraries, the two women’s campaigns will also afford them the opportunities of meeting with the women groups and cooperative societies at the grassroots.
Mrs Fayose, who kick-started her own campaign in Ikole and Ijero local government areas on Sunday, explained that the exercise was part of her contributions toward the electoral victory of her husband.
Similarly, Mrs Fayemi said to the rural women that there would be improved welfare if they elected her husband on June 21.
She is also billed to begin another round of campaign to major markets in the various towns as from Monday.
