The Super Eagles of Nigeria have risen one place to 44th on the latest FIFA world rankings released this morning with world champions Spain retaining top spot ahead of Germany and Portugal.

2014 World Cup hosts Brazil moved up two places to fourth place, their highest position since 2011, and lie ahead of fellow South Americans Uruguay in fifth and Colombia in sixth place.

One of Nigeria’s group opponents at the World Cup, Argentina dropped one place to seventh while the other nations in Nigeria’s group, Bosnia & Herzegovina and Iran retained their positions at 25th and 37th respectively.

Cote D’Ivoire remains Africa’s highest ranked nation on thr world rankings in 21st position followed by Egypt in 24th place, Algeria; that shares 25th position with Bosnia and Sweden, Ghana in 38th position and Cape Verde in 42nd.

The next world rankings will be released on June 6, six days before the World Cup commences on June 12 in Sao Paolo.
