Governor Ibikunle Amosun of the western Nigerian state of Ogun has attributed the unprecedented infrastructural projects executed by his administration in the last three years throughout the State to the judicious use of tax payers money.

He also said the commissioning of life-changing projects to commemorate the government’s three years in office will showcase prudent financial management of resources by his administration.

He spoke today after his inspection of Sango-Akute-Ojodu Road in Ifo local government area of the State. Work on the road is in progress.

Governor Amosun: using the tax payers money to change Ogun state

Amosun disclosed that on his assumption of office three years ago, he swore to be prudent with the tax payers money and execute projects that would improve the lives of the people.

According to him, “despite the dwindling Federal Allocation, the State government has been basing its plans on its Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) to execute projects contrary to reports from some quarters that it had been borrowing from banks.

“We have the master plan which will take some time to mature, but we have sense to achieve it. I swore to an oath to do the best for the good people of Ogun State and make judicious use of resources.

“Some people have been erroneously thinking that we are borrowing. This is not true. We have only been using our brain. We have been planning based on our Internally Generated Revenue (IGR). If I wait till when we will have the money to execute our projects, then, I will be visionless”, Amosun stated.

He revealed that activities lined up for the third year in office are geared towards delivering milestone achievements in housing, security, agriculture and education.

“I feel fulfilled and thankful to God and our people for their support which has helped us thus far. Things that seem impossible are now becoming possible in Ogun State”, the governor added.

He revealed that some road projects, such as those in Ijebu-Ode, Sagamu and Abeokuta would be completed for the third year celebration, just as work on the Ayetoro, Ilisan-Ago/Iwoye as well as the 110km Ilara-Oja/Odan-Tombolo-Egua road projects are progressing significantly.

Amosun said the Sango-Akute-Ojodu road, with the emerging bridges, is now relatively motorable compared to the recent past. He added that he road was extended from 32km to 40km in order to link it with the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

”We are striving hard to get Ogun to an enviable pedestal. With the way we are going, our State will never be the same again”, the governor assured.
