Truck masters

A front line auto company, Truck Masters, based in Ikeja, Lagos, has shown its strength in the area of after-sales services as it recently conducted auto journalists around its facilities as well as delivered a training session to the journalists.

This, the company says, is in furtherance of its mission and core value in developing local skills in automotive industry through sole or joint initiatives for technical training and development in Nigeria.

Briefing the journalists at the opening session at Truckmasters headquarters, the company’s Executive Director, Dr. Oseme Oigiagbe said “It is our view that once in a time, journalists who cover the industry should have a comprehensive knowledge or skills around the sector, not only by writing but also by involving self in a Do-it-yourself approach.

“Lots are happening now at various auto assemblies and manufacturing plants in the country. I know you (automobile journalists) have toured some of the plants. So this training and workshop will go a long way to impact on your horned skills and also a long way at encouraging patronage of our services and at the long run, accelerate the Nigerian Industrial Development Plan. I welcome you as your drop your pens and adorn the mechanical garment today.”

Cletus Okenweze, the training centre manager, who was saddled with the responsible of the training proper, took the journalist in an hour long interaction session on how auto body repairs are carried out even in a do it yourself approach. Slides of acceded vehicles been repaired and its advantages took the centre stage.

Dr Oseme later took the class room again and fielded questions and answers, and moved the journalists to a practical session where they were shown how the chassis of a vehicle look like and then went through their diagnostic centre, workshop, painting lobby *Baking( and also the spare parts section all manned by trained auto executives.

According to Oseme, “ a major focus of our business is the provision of after sales services on a multi-brand basis through our ell=equipped workshop for passenger and commercial vehicles. We also have the capacity for the maintenance of any firm’s fleet of passenger and commercial vehicles with a lot of benefits to give the firm the better span of control over fleet asset management and running costs, also to conviently drive maintenance cost down by 10 per cent.

Oseme affirmed “Truckmasters operates a technical training school in collaboration with federal government of Nigeria through the agency of the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) and the Nigerian Employers Consultative Assembly for training and development of technical skills for the auto industry. The company also runs Driver Training Programme for commercial vehicles (Truck) drivers and refresher training for drivers of Executives or high networth individuals to acquaint them with modern technology and inculcate soft skills and right behavior.”

At the end of the training/workshop session, Mr Tony Arenyeka, MD, Truckmasters said he was delighted to have the auto journalists around “I am most delighted to have all of you here, to be part of what we do, to be part of our life, we welcome you and also back here once more. I believe that the high point of this training should be the free training workshops and simulation exercises powered by us and the free range of auto-diagnostics and repair services offered to your exclusive learning.”

In his remarks, the chairman of the Nigerian Auto Journalists Association, Mr Frank Kintum expressed his delight as Truckmasters gave the nod for the training when they were called upon. “It is a great pleasure to say thank you for accepting us even as we challenged you to this workshop, you never said no, we will also use this opportunity to task other stakeholders in the auto industry to emulate what Truckmasters has done today in further horning of our skills in writing reports in the automotive industry.”

Truckmasters Nigeria Limited, a one-stop custom experience centre for automobile owners, is a private limited liability Company that is promoted by competent Nigerians with hands-on industry and business experience.

The company has a trading unit, which deal in automobile components, including tyres, Bosch Brake pads and Baldwin filters.

Though Truckmasters holds authorized dealership status for Hyundai, Forland, GAC and Isuzu brands, it runs multi-brand aftersales workshop for all popular auto brands at its all-equipped workshop for passenger and commercial vehicles.

The training was held at the company’s prmises located at 31, Mobolaji Johnson way, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos.
